We met someone from EXOPC, a company from Canada doing a cool Windows7 tablet with a pretty neat user interface. We didn’t resist the temptation to try Assemblive, and it runs pretty well. We should do some optimizations dedicated to touch input to make it even better, if using Assemblive on a tablet rings a bell for you, send us an email !
A thorough interview of Jean-Paul Moiraud in Thot, a magazine about elearning. A great read for people interested in education and virtual worlds.
We are very happy to announce this particular release. It’s the first release of Assemblive using Unity 3. There has also been a lot of changes under the hood.
We started our path from a 3D webconference system to a web 3D platform when we released a developer API last year, and allowed Assemblive scenes to be embedded into any website. After experimenting for almost a year, we are definitely convinced of the potential of this platform approach.
With the 2.0 release, we rebuilt the core of Assemblive to use fully scriptable Unity3D scenes as input. Creating immersive web 3D experiences in the web browser just got insanely easier for us. Assemblive is now instrumental for A World For Us to provide top notch services to create customized web 3D experiences for customers. All our core features can now easily be yours for your own application, and adding specific features is very easy.
The 2.0 release also brings some new features, the most visible is the media visualization system completely revamped. You can check the list of changes.
Jean-Paul Moiraud and Gérald Delabre are two professors really using and experimenting with virtual worlds (Second Life and Assemblive). Their thoughtful approach to education 2.0 is worth the time to watch the video.

Thanks to the amazing work by Artesi and the Autrans team, about 100 people who didn’t make it to Autrans, have managed to follow the conferences live and discuss them with the other online participants through Assemblive.

This has been once again a quite interesting example of what can be a hybrid event, both live and online, with collaboration and conversations happening between the online and onsite participants.
Like in 2010, the Autrans conferences and meetings about the web will provide an interactive portal for a distant audience. This portal offers an Assemblive immersive experience combined with a live streaming of the conference and social network streams.

This is a great example on how the community can leverage the Assemblive API to create their own Web3D application. Congrats to the Autrans team for their amazing work !
For the 15th year, Autrans will be The Place To Be in january 12th, 13th, 14th for all the key players of the internet. And even if you can’t be there, the interactive portal is just for you.
